THE STUDIO

Stoney Studio is a design focused architecture practice based in Cambridgeshire; working primarily on private residential schemes.

We care passionately about design.

Design that delivers our clients' needs and desires, whilst simultaneously conjuring up qualities they had never imagined. Design that speaks of a specific past and place, whilst taking a step in a new direction. Design that explores the quality in atmosphere and materiality.

We have a strong belief that good architecture can unlock almost any brief and the studio has a successful reputation in fulfilling ambitious designs on challenging urban and rural sites. Experienced in every step of the process, the studio is committed to delivering projects from the initial concepts, all the way through to completion on site.

Tommy Stoney

Tommy is an Architect with over 12 years of experience and a passion for creating elegant and finely crafted architecture.

Inspired by his Great Great Great Grandfather Sir Joseph Paxton, who designed and built the Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition in 1851 and was the head gardener at Chatsworth; Tommy has always dreamed of becoming an Architect and establishing his own practice. He founded Stoney Studio in 2018, with the ambition to design buildings that attempt to create an atmosphere and quality specific to every brief such as; site geology, history, vernacular and most importantly, the client.

After graduating from the University of Bath with First Class Honours, he has worked across multiple sectors which include:

  • Rural and urban homes

  • Conservation

  • Masterplanning

  • Education

  • Community

His experience at Panter Hudspith involved a Project Architect role on a variety of large scale masterplans which included the Spray Street Quarter in Woolwich; a scheme consisting of 742 homes and multiple commercial units. Whilst his time as Project Architect at Tonkin Liu saw him lead a variety of ambitious smaller scale projects including the Bio Domes; a unique prefabricated timber structure housing a library and dance studio in Weybridge.
